September Nail Art Challenge: Stamping Month! Day 10: Trees

Introduction:

The topic of this challenge was Trees and of course I have only few images of trees on my plates (including palm trees which I already used for "travel" stamping ). So i decided to do something completely different, real Canadian forest with spruce, amanita and snails. Basically it's a story about lost baby snail and her brave mom going through the forest to find the little one...

Results:

Figure 1. Four nails stamped with trees and snails.

Figure 2. Two more images at different light settings.

Figure 3. Macro images of stamping.

Materials and Methods:

Nail polish:
  •  Julep - Ava (2 coats and stamping)
  • A England - Tess d'Urbervilles (2 coats and stamping)
Stamping plates:
  • Pueen 42
  • BM-302

Discussion:

This time I used just two polishes alternating background and stamping colors between nails. This combination of tender pink and deep dark green worked very well, I just wish Ava would stamp a bit less transparent. Tess is actually a really nice color with sparkles quite obvious not only in the bottle (figure 2) but also on the nails (my pictures does not capture it very well). If you look at the BM-302  plate (you can find link below) you may not find snails right away, because they are incorporated in the bigger pattern. In order to isolate snails I tried to apply small drop of polish just on top of them and i cleaned all "extra" elements which I picked up on the stamper before actual stamping on the nail. Sometimes it's nice to use small portions of complex pattern and it's really easy to isolate them this way.

  1. This is cute :) I love that there's a story to it! I also love that your blog format is science paper format. (I've a PhD in Psychology and am currently a post-doc, so it tickles me in the nicest way). It really works!
